For tracking the required subcontractor construction documents to release payments on concurrently open projects. Included parameters to current construction lien laws and referenced the existing data file systems in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing.
The primary processing automated the cross-referencing of related paid and open account balances by job in monthly periods and producing a "required documents report."
These documents can then be issued or requested from the suppliers or other subcontractors on the project. The system was expanded to include digital image archival.
Achieved Results:
Increase in efficiency, documents issued more promptly, on demand lookup of issued documents, reduction or almost elimination of general contractor document requests, increase in cash flow, and a better working association to the general contractor.
To maintain locations of all tools in the shop or in the care of field employees on concurrently open projects. Reporting included employee responsibility tool listing with item values for employee approval. System was expanded to include all company assets tracking for insurance coverage and financial reporting.
Achieved Results:
Better tool care by employees, understanding of costs, and reduction in theft from unsecured tools on the project site.
A user-friendly interface for individual employee time entry including the field construction crew. This was implemented as a front-end data input interface to the existing payroll system.
Parameters for available pay types, accrual calculations, default cost codes can be applied to an entire payroll department or individual employee exception.
Supervisor review and approval, proper limiting and validation parameters to labor laws and referencing related data files.
Achieved Results:
Increased efficiency in payroll processing and effectively reduced errors. Elimination of manual calculations including vacation, sick, holiday, and prevailing wage rates. More reliable reporting overall in general ledger, job costing, tax payments, certified payroll, and the reduction of voided checks.
Maintained library patrons walk-in use of computer lab. Full implementation of information databases including users file, software catalog, and lab users login interface. Reservations could be made up to two months in advance and computer time was restricted to two hours per day. The lab's desk manager maintained currently logged in users, remaining time, and any checked out software materials being used at the workstations. Lab administrators could schedule class or other group reservations, as needed. Statistical usage information was reported.
Full development of user login database, public and private messaging, questions to reference librarians, information bulletins, online games, usage log and statistics features. First online in 1983 using a $5000 Corvus 10mb hard drive and a Hayes 300bps Micromodem. No commercial BBS software packages existed for this type of application. Microlink BBS was the second public library in the country to offer such dial up services next to The Chicago Public Library. Microlink was later renamed to LOLA (Library On-Line Apple).
